Sinus Lifts can make Dental Implants Possible

A sinus lift can make dental implants a possibility for patients who have extensive bone loss due to periodontal disease, trauma, or cancer treatment. To determine if this procedure is right for you, our team will conduct a series of X-rays to measure the bone thickness around your molar roots. If Dr. Bryan believes this is a good treatment option for you, he will discuss the procedure in detail, so you can decide if you’d like to move forward with it. While every case is different in terms of the level of work involved, most bone grafts are fully healed within 4 to 12 months.

What is a Sinus Lift or Bone Graft

A sinus lift, or bone graft, involves adding bone to your upper jaw and maxillary sinuses, located on either side of your nose. As part of the procedure, the sinus membrane is carefully moved upward, or “lifted,” and a bone graft material is inserted. This surgery is performed when sinuses are too close to the jaw for dental implants to be placed.

Sinus Lift Surgery and Bone Grafts in Greater Manchester

Over the last 15 years, this type of specialized dental procedure has become common for patients who replace missing teeth with dental implants. This is because those who have lost teeth in the upper jaw—particularly the back teeth—don’t have enough bone to anchor the implants.

Dr. Bryan and his team have extensive experience performing sinus lift surgery. Most of our patients experience minimal discomfort during the procedure, and enjoy dental implants that last a lifetime.
